A woman in the 2600 block of Galpin Avenue told police she suspects her ex-boyfriend entered her house and stole their cat while she was away.

The woman called police May 28 to report a breaking and entering.

The woman, 19, told police she believes her ex-boyfriend entered her house and stole their cat.

Police said the ex-boyfriend, 20, of Royal Oak lived at the house with the woman recently.

Two days before the cat was taken, police went to the house to be on hand while the man moved his belongings from the house.

Man admits stealing surveillance camera from business

A Clawson man, 58, told police he stole a surveillance camera from the rear of a business a day after theft was reported stolen.

The surveillance camera was taken from outside Tiffany's Training, a fitness business at 219 E. 12 Mile Road.

The business reported the theft on Memorial Day. Also stolen was a sign near the camera that read: "Smile you're on camera."

Police said the Clawson man showed up at the police station June 1 and told them he took the camera, worth about $150, and sign. He noticed the camera and sign when he drove behind the business thinking it was a through-alley, but found it dead ended at the side of a CVS store.

The man apparently has a strong dislike of surveillance cameras, according to what he told police.

He told police he was upset earlier when his sister secretly had surveillance cameras put in his mother's house while she was in hospice care.

When the man lived in Royal Oak, he told police he decided to move after a next-door neighbor put surveillance cameras outside their home. The man felt like he was being surveilled, police said.

He has no prior criminal history and told police he felt bad about taking the camera. The man is making restitution to replace the camera.
