Andrew Cuomo, who was recently accused of sexual harassment, is facing questions about calling for Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh to take a lie detector test after allegations of sexual misconduct were made against him during his confirmation process. Cuomo's office did not respond to a request to explain whether or not he would take the lie detector test he demanded of Kavanaugh now that sexual harassment accusations have been made against him, according to the New York Post. A request for comment to Cuomo's office from the Washington Examiner also received no response. "I'm compelled to tell my story because no woman should feel forced to hide their experiences of workplace intimidation, harassment and humiliation — not by the Governor or anyone else," Boylan wrote in an essay posted Wednesday. Cuomo's office has denied the claims, calling them "quite simply false." In 2018, during the Kavanaugh hearing, Cuomo demanded that the judge be subjected to a lie detector test to prove his innocence in the face of sexual misconduct allegations. "Here is one basic fact that badly hurts Judge Kavanaugh: Why won't he take a polygraph? Dr. Ford did," Cuomo asked. "If he does not take a polygraph test, it is the ultimate, 'he said, she said.'" "The Kavanaugh controversy could raise difficult questions for Cuomo who not only insisted that Dr. Ford must be believed but demanded that Kavanaugh take a polygraph examination," Turley said in December when the first news of Boylan's accusations broke. "It is not clear if Cuomo will now follow his own standard." |
