Menelik Jackson, 24, was one of two people charged overnight with first-degree murder in off-duty Officer John P. Rivera's death, Chicago police spokesman Anthony Guglielmi said Monday morning. Jackson is accused of being the gunman and the other man charged, Jovan Battle, is accused of being a "co-conspirator" who was with Jackson at the time of the shooting, Guglielmi said.
